Sotheby’s Art Auction House

Sotheby’s Evening Sale of Impression & Modern Art in New York was present an exceptional range of masterworks spanning three-quarters of a century, from serene Impressionist landscapes to the exuberant power of Picasso’s late period. Drawn from a number of distinguished private collections and estates, this auction will showcase works extremely fresh to the market.

Among the highlights are a spirited still-life by Matisse from 1919, painted in celebration of Bastille Day at the end of the Great War; a quintessential Monet landscape of Giverny  seen at the height of seasonal bloom; Modigliani’s first portrait by Picasso from the estate of Patricia Kennedy Lawford; one of Lyonel Feininger’s most important figural oils depicting his alter-ego; and a unique collection of bronzes by Rembrandt Bugatti from the collection of S. Joel Schur.
